Alumnus donates James Gang photos to Northfield

St. Olaf alumnus Benjamin Nystuen '57 recently gave the Northfield Historical Society a valuable gift in the form of a set of glass-plate negatives of photos taken after the 1876 Jesse James Gang defeat. Nystuen, who now lives in Colorado Springs, acquired the negatives -- showing the dead bodies of the foiled bank robbers -- from his father 22 years ago. Nystuen told the Minneapolis-based Star Tribune that he donated the photos, which he'd kept in a box, to the Northfield Historical Society because "that's exactly where they belong."
