Alumnus Navy pilot returns home with father's remains

May 18, 2007

Lt. Cmdr. Brian Danielson '90 -- son of the late Capt. Ben Danielson '65, who was shot down during a mission over Laos in 1969 -- and his mother, Mary, have decided to close his father's case and are planning a series of memorial events in Kenyon, Minn., June 15-16. Last year Danielson, who recently returned home from duty in Iraq, became the first active-duty member of the U.S. military to search for the remains of a parent when he accompanied an official POW/MIA mission to Laos. The Minneapolis-based Star Tribune has run a cover story and a special media slideshow on Capt. Ben Danielson's honorary homecoming in Minneapolis.
