Pioneer Press profiles 'pitching preacher'

"What a great kid," says George Tsamis, manager of the St. Paul Saints baseball team. He's referring to Charlie Ruud '04, who pitches for the Saints, coaches pitching for the St. Olaf Oles and -- in his spare time -- attends Luther Seminary. Ruud sees the parallels between the mound and the pulpit. "I'm playing baseball as hard as I can," he says. "Hopefully, I'm spreading some kind of hope and friendship."
