Alumnus' Prodigal Son art collection published in new book

The art collection of St. Olaf alumnus Jerry Evenrud '51 recently was published in an oversize volume titled And Grace Will Lead Me Home: Images of the Prodigal Son, which is reviewed in the May issue of the Metro Lutheran. More than two decades ago Evenrud decided to inventory, and eventually collect, Prodigal Son art. Since then Evenrud -- who graduated with a music major and currently resides in Minneapolis -- has assembled a collection of oil paintings, pencil drawings, watercolors and sculptures depicting the story of the Prodigal Son, as told in Luke 15:11-32.

"It is my hope that for as long as the story of the Prodigal Son is told, the collection will continue to inspire people's lives and enrich their faith," Evenrud told the Metro Lutheran.
