Assistant Professor of Music Christopher Aspaas '95, conductor of the Viking Chorus and Chapel Choir at St. Olaf, recently returned from serving as guest conductor for the American International School of Muscat's 4th Annual Festival of Choirs held at its Ghala Campus in Muscat, Oman. The weekend-long event, which culminated in a concert, included intensive rehearsals, choral music workshops and social activities.

"I have traveled and worked in Europe and the Americas, but have never encountered a group of such diversity from around the world in one event," Aspaas told the Oman Observer. "It is unbelievable that the students -- despite their ethnic, religious and cultural differences -- came to make [such] beautiful music together." The theme of this year's festival was "Turn The World Around."
