Oversexed novel bemuses English prof, but keeps her reading!

By Amy Gage
March 18, 2007

English professor Diana Postlethwaite, who holds the Boldt Distinguished Chair in the Humanities, has followed novelist Jane Smiley's characters to the rich farmlands of Iowa, the inner workings of a Midwestern university, the particulars of "horse-breeding subcultures" and more. Now Postlethwaite journeys with Smiley to the sex-soaked bedrooms of the Hollywood hills, and she isn't sure the ride is worth it. Our professor's review of Ten Days in the Hills appeared in the Minneapolis-based Star Tribune.
