St. Olaf to host "I Can't Believe You Asked That"
March 20, 2007
Philip Milano, author the book I Can't Believe You Asked That! and founder of Yforum.com, will make a public presentation at St. Olaf Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Lion's Pause student club in Buntrock Commons. Milano's appearance is sponsored by the St. Olaf Student Government Association and the Diversity Celebrations Committee.
Have you ever wondered something about someone of another race, gender, sex, religion or culture but were too afraid or embarrassed to ask? Milano says "Go ahead -- ask!" The types of questions that Milano likes to address include: Why do white people smell like wet dogs when they come out of the rain? What do blind people 'see' in their dreams? Why do some gay men talk with a lisp? Do people in Arab countries really wipe themselves with their bare hands? Why would anyone strip for money?
According to the Contemporary Issues Agency, Milano's presentations "tear off the blinders of decorum, giving us the tools we need to discuss taboo topics that we're dying to know about each other ... and [helps] audiences gain profound new insights."
