Annual indoor marathon in Tostrud draws attention in media
February 5, 2007
The second annual Zoom! Yah! Yah! Indoor Marathon, the creation of members of the Northfield-area running group, the "Band of 10,000 Aches," took place in Tostrud Center on Jan. 14. Dick Daymont, the event's organizer and husband of Associate Professor of Physical Education Chris Daymont, St. Olaf's women's cross country and track and field coach, said the winter marathon fills a void in the winter running schedule. "There isn't space in Minnesota for another outdoor marathon," he says in a story in the Pioneer Press.
Proceeds for the benefited the St. Olaf women's track and field team. Approximately 30 runners, including competitors from Nebraska and Wisconsin, took part in the marathon.
