Paul Ruseabagina to speak about Hotel Rwanda Experience
February 27, 2007
Boe Memorial Chapel, 7 p.m.
Paul Rusesabagina, a Rwandan of Hutu and Tutsi heritage, was the acting manager of the Hotel des Mille Collines during the genocide that erupted in his country in 1994. He used his influence and connections to shelter over 1,260 Tutsis and moderate Hutus from being slaughtered by the Interahamwe militia. His actions were depicted in the Academy Award-nominated film, Hotel Rwanda (2004). Ruseabagina has received a number of international awards for his bravery, including the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom, from President George W. Bush in 2005. The event is free and open to the public.
