Daymont honored by Minnesota athletic group
February 22, 2007
St. Olaf Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach Chris Daymont has received a special merit award from the Minnesota Coalition of Women in Athletic Leadership. Daymont was one of three individuals and one institution who received the honor at a presentation at the Minnesota State Capitol Rotunda earlier this month in conjunction with the 21st Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
Daymont's award is for contributions that promote girls and women in sport. The MCWAL calls Daymont "an advocate of giving opportunities to all girls and women, and supporting the philosophy of never cutting any athlete."
Daymont is in her 26th season at St. Olaf and her 32nd in coaching. She has coached more than 1,000 student athletes during her tenure; 26 of them have earned All-America titles.
