Bookstore to host authors, photographers during Festival

As part of this year's annual St. Olaf Christmas Festival celebrations the St. Olaf Bookstore will host four authors and two photographers to sign books for customers Thursday, Nov. 30, through Sunday, Dec. 3. Besides the titles listed below, many current and previously published titles by the visitors will be available for sale and signing.

| Heynen |
St. Olaf faculty member Jim Heynen, author of
Schoolhouses of Minnesota (Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2006), and photographer Doug Ohman will be in the bookstore Thursday, Nov. 30, 6-7 p.m.
Schoolhouses of Minnesota is a look into the nearly forgotten world of one-acre school grounds, kerosene lanterns and coal-burning stoves. The book includes 120 color photographs of Minnesota's pioneer and early schoolhouses.

| Breining |
The author and photographer of
Minnesota Yesterday & Today (Voyageur Press, 2006) will make a joint appearance Friday, Dec. 1, 6-7 p.m. Photographer Layne Kennedy and author Greg Breining's book compares current images with photos from Minnesota history. Readers will find pictures ranging from state capitol transformations to Minnesota State Fair and ice palace changes over the years.

Eric Dregni, author of
Weird Minnesota: Your Travel Guide to Minnesota?s Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets (Sterling Publishing, 2006), will be in the bookstore Saturday, Dec. 2, 6?7 p.m. In
Weird Minnesota, Dregni takes the reader to bizarre places all over the state, including a two-story outhouse and the country?s largest collection of underwear. Dregni, an MFA candidate in creative nonfiction at the University of Minnesota, also has written
Minnesota Marvels, Midwest Marvels, Zamboni and
Follies of Science.  |
| Lunge-Larsen |
The final author, professional storyteller Lise Lunge-Larsen, will make an appearance Sunday, Dec. 3, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Lunge-Larsen's most recent title is
Noah?s Mittens: The Story of Felt (Houghton Mifflin, 2006), which adds a new twist to the story of Noah's Ark (she says her inspiration for the book came from a class she took on felting mittens). Lunge-Larson, an award-winning author, also wrote the popular children's book
