St. Olaf energy study cited in UK publication

By Tom Vogel
July 14, 2006

St. Olaf's commitment to sustainable energy continues to receive international attention, most recently with Reuters News UK citing a study conducted by St. Olaf (with former faculty member Jason Hill) and the University of Minnesota that examined the amount of energy soybean and corn fuels produced in relation to the energy needed to produce them. The article looks at developing alternative energy sources that don't deplete food supplies. The joint St. Olaf-UMN study found soybean-based biodiesel to be more efficient than corn-based ethanol.
