Robert Flaten to speak on the vocation of diplomacy

Robert Flaten '56, who served the American Foreign Service for 32 years, and long regarded as representing the best in American diplomacy will give a public lecture at 3:45 p.m. in Buntrock Commons, room 22. Flaten was ambassador to Rwanda, served a number of posts in the Middle East and South Asia, was director of the Office of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh Affairs in Washingiton, D.C., and was part of the team which negotiated the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
