Boe Chapel renovation plans announced

Assistant Vice President for Facilities Pete Sandberg recently announced plans to renovate Boe Chapel. The plans include replacing the organ and redesigning the choir loft by January 2006.

The organ and a platform for choirs and ensembles will be moved to the chancel allowing the organ and choirs to face the pews. This will enhance the many different uses of the chapel including worship, speakers and music ensembles.

Due to its age and frequent use, the 45-years-old organ is ready to be retired. In addition, the organ recently sustained water damage. Sandberg commented, "The organ has been ridden hard and put away wet. Now is a prime time to replace the organ."

Members of the St. Olaf organ faculty have been working with the Holtkamp Organ Company of Cleveland, Ohio to design a new organ specifically for St. Olaf and are happy with the progress thus far.
