High School students explore their future during Minnesota Private College Week
June 20, 2005
The Minnesota Private College Council is sponsoring Minnesota Private College Week, themed "Explore your future," June 20-24. The week allows prospective high school students "to compare the colleges by actually setting foot on campus," says Jill Lynch, assistant director of admissions at St. Olaf. Lynch estimates that between 600 to 1,000 students will visit St. Olaf campus this week.
Visiting students are briefly introduced to St. Olaf and enjoy a half-day of activities that include a student-led campus tour and information sessions on admissions, academics, campus life, sports and music. Students who visit four or more colleges receive four fee waiver forms to use when applying to any of the member schools.
Participating Minnesota private colleges include: Augsburg College, Bethany Lutheran College, Bethel University, Carleton College, College of St. Benedict, College of St. Catherine, College of St. Scholastica, Concordia College, Concordia University, Gustavus Adolphus College, Hamline University, Macalester College, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Saint John's University, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, St. Olaf College and University of St. Thomas.
