Student Congregation announces 2004-05 benevolence total

The St. Olaf Student Congregation announced the 2004-05 benevolence amount during the final worship service of the 2004-05 academic year. The $12,341 benevolence total includes all offering money in excess of the congregation's operating budget.

The three organizations receiving the greatest amount of money were Lutheran World Relief ($3,961), Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services ($2,364) and the campus tsunami relief effort ($1,416). Three organizations each received $400: Hope Center (formerly WomanSafe), Northfield Community Action Center and Heifer Project International. Receiving $200 each: The Center for Victims of Torture and 30 Hour Famine. The Boe Chapel renovation project was given $3,000 toward the purchase of a new organ.

The service also included the announcement of the 2005-06 Student Congregation Officers, including President Jake Erickson '06, Treasurer Tyler Hauger '08 and Secretary Hannah Wallisch '08.
