Professor reflects on the news that Klansman convicted of manslaughter

In 2002, St. Olaf English Professor Mary Winstead published a memoir, Back to Mississippi, about her familial links to the South and her realization, years later, of her family's connection to the Ku Klux Klan. The recent conviction of Edgar Ray Killen on manslaughter charges for the 1964 killings of three Civil Rights workers brought the family history home, as Winstead wrote in the Star Tribune.
