Getting Started on the Data Plan

  • Data Plan Assignment

    The structure of 6 deliverables and a similar evaluation form will be required, but the extent of each may be reduced over break.

  • Exercise for today (in-class, team):
    In a shared google doc, do preliminary work on 3 (Ethical Questions), 4 (Empirical Research Questions), 5 (Data Collection methods/approaches)

    • For 3 (Ethical Questions)

      • Assemble or generate at least two contrasting candidate ethical questions (and any sub-questions)

      • As time permits, indicate the ethical questions that seem "better" from the viewpoint of importance, feasibility, interest, etc.
        Use boldface and/or font size to indicate the "better" items

      • Record points related to rationale that occur in your team considerations.

    • For 4 (Empirical Research Questions)

      • Generate one or more empirical research questions for each each ethical question, for at least two promising ethical questions

      • As time permits, indicate which empirical research questions seem "better" from the viewpoint of importance, feasibility, interest, etc.
        Use boldface and/or font size to indicate the "better" items

      • Record points related to rationale that occur in your team considerations.

    • For 5 (Data Collection methods/approaches)

      • Assemble or generate at least two contrasting candidate methods or approaches, which together address at least two promising empirical research questions.
        Add some specifics (e.g., who will you interview, what kind of interactive observation situation, etc.)

      • As time permits, indicate the ethical questions that seem "better" from the viewpoint of importance, feasibility, interest, etc., under our circumstances
        Use boldface and/or font size to indicate the "better" items

      • Record points related to rationale that occur in your team considerations.

  • Submit a PDF of what your (partial?) team has generated before Friday "midnight" using this link
