Jan Shoger is Professor Emeritus of Department of Art and Art History, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN. She taught drawing and printmaking for 20 years.Contact Artist

Currently she is a working member of Highpoint Center for Printmaking Co-op in Minneapolis.

Jan received her B.A. in art from the University of Minnesota. She taught K-12 for several years before returning to U of MN for her MA degree.

In 1968-69 she studied Japanese woodcut with Sho Kidokoro in Tokyo, Japan. With a faculty Development Grant she worked at Landmark Editions with Bernie Ficek and John Swenson. In  1991, Jan worked at Tamarind Institute, at a month long lithography workshop. In 1998 during her sabbatical, she worked with Akira Kurasaki at Kyoto Seika University in Kyoto, Japan.

Her awards and honors include Tamarind Institute for Lithography Grant for Teachers of Lithography, St. Olaf Faculty Development Grant, ELCA Faculty Development Grant and ACM Japan Study Grant to work as Artist in Residence at Kyoto Seika University, Kyoto, Japan.

Jan Shoger has exhibited extensively throughout Minnesota. She is currently a Co-op member of Highpoint Center for printmaking, Minneapolis, MN. Her work is in collections at Target Corporation, Carleton College, St. Olaf College, Kyoto Seika University in Japan, Northfield Hospital, Northfield Public library and numerous private collections.
