Painting in Theatre includes all kinds of surface work on scenery and props. The position in the professional performing Arts world is usually referred to as a Scenic Artist or "Scenic". Good drawing, color, texture, and painting skills are important and this class has covered these with perceptual drawing exercises, color work and painting projects.

Being able to read and create technical drawings for performance design work is an important part of communicating your vision to the others in the performance project. This class focuses on the introduction of VectorWorks CAD software and is devoted to introducing the application, learning about technical drawings and learning how to create each of the common drawings used in performance design work. Reading and analyzing the script; researching the production; collaborating with others on the project; creating preliminary designs, models, sketches, renderings; showing how the elements are constructed and installed with drawings and making final presentations; these are all part of the course.
