Position Openings at Central Lakes College, Brainerd, MNCLC

Wanted: 
Scenic and Lighting/Sound designers
Scene shop supervisor/technical director
When: 2013-2014 season with possibility of summer 2014 work
Where: Central Lakes College, Brainerd, MN

Details:
Central Lakes College (CLC) Theatre produces four shows during the academic year, and two productions during the summer. CLC has two spaces: a 270 seat proscenium theatre and a black box. Specs for the two spaces are available upon request.

Season:
Final determination of season has yet to be made, partially dependent on hiring of needed staff. Under consideration: Death of a Salesman; Equus; The Foreigner; Bill W. and Dr. Bob; 9 to 5 (musical); The Fantasticks; Terra NovaAs it is in Heaven; The Rimers of Eldritch; Dracula (Dietz version); Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; Lend Me a Tenor; I Hate Hamlet

Positions: 
Design work could be handled primarily via email, although at least one on-site visit would be necessary. Scenic designs would include front elevations and detailed working drawings for construction; lighting designs would include full hanging plot, gel schematic, hook-up and cueing sheets; presence at focus would be a major plus. Sound design would include plot, cueing, and assistance in finding source material for sound effects/music.
Scene shop supervisor/TD would be on-site, up to 40 hours a week. Responsible for overseeing the construction, painting, and rigging of scenery, hang and focus of lighting, coordination of properties. Also responsible for coordinating technical aspects of a performing arts series hosting guest artists.
Remuneration: stipend paid per design, typically in the $500-$750 range; stipend is negotiable and based on complexity of show and demands of design. Scene shop/TD position is an AFSCME position; hourly rate determined by qualifications and training.
Start date: As soon as practicable; academic year begins August 26.
