Student Scholarship Winners
Each year in November, USITT Northern Boundary Section awards student scholarships for attendance at the USITT National Conference in March. This year, two Student Scholarships have been awarded to the following individuals:

Lauren Long University of Wisconsin La Crosse
The following students won a Complimentary Registration for the USITT Annual Conference and Stage Expo for their design/ production exhibits in Cover The Walls at the USITT Northern Boundary Section Annual Fall Conference in September 2017.

Treasurer's Report
Feb. 23, 2018
As of this date, there is $3899.66 in the bank.
The annual Section support from USITT for $600 has been received.
NORCOSTCO has continued its annual $500 scholarship for the NORCOSTCO-John Mullen Scholarship which was awarded to Lauren Long.
A very big thank-you for the continued support to the Section. NORCOSTCO assumed this scholarship support in 2013.
The NBS Scholarship based on membership support also awarded a $500 scholarship to Hannah Steele. This scholarship began in 1999.
To date, this Section has supported $45,225 in scholarships for students and emerging professionals in the region.

Meeting Minutes
September 2017 Membership Meeting
A Northern Boundary Section Member Meeting was held during the annual Fall Conference on September 16, 2017. The meeting was held at MNSU Mankato.

Alicia Wold – Sign up for Portfolio review session – times provided during lunch.
MNSU Hosts provided directions for the sessions, student volunteers at the registration desk will help get people directions and providing help with sessions.
Old Business
• Membership Dues
As suggested at the Spring Meeting at USITT National the group wishes to vote on raising the following:
Membership Dues –
Individual raise from $15 to $20
Organizational raise from $40 to $50
Motion: Todd Reemtsma to accept the change.

• Credit Card Payment for Dues
- currently not taking credit cards
- Gino has done some research and Corey proposes to circulate the research she has done; we will need to decide whether to charge a fee for credit card payments or absorb the cost.
- Considering a convenience fee to the those who want to use the credit card payment which could likely be built in to the system.
- Corey will add something in the next newsletter for an update on the credit card exploration.
- Todd: electronic payment facilitates an easier payment process when meetings are held in various locations.
- George: it’s a move that is likely inevitable, people aren't carrying around cash anymore and it’s an important to move ahead with the current times.
- Also would help with renewals and they could all be done online versus having to send in the check and form.
- Not necessarily something to vote on but will continue to discuss this issue and report further at the national conference.

New Business
• New Website – Google NBS takes you to the old site but is being currently being remedied usitt.nbs.org is the correct link.
• Todd - Trying out a revamping of the platform, NBS 2.0 – modern and sleeker and more technical for the new website.
• Todd would like to include images of the work that we do in the region on the website. If you go to the NBS website there is a link Todd's St. Olaf e-mail address. The focus of the page would be “This is what we’re doing” .
• Todd hope's to have this version up by the time of the national conference.
• Dec. 15 is the next newsletter date (Brian)
